Editor's Note

Pastor Saroja M

It's a brand new year and as we step into it, we are happy to present the First Magazine for the year 2012. I pray and hope that the Lord's presence will be abundantly in your lives the whole of this year.

"As yet I am as strong this day as I was in the day that Moses sent me: as my strength was then, even so is my strength now, for war, both to go out, and to come in." Joshua 14:11

More than 80 years old Caleb did not want to rest on the plains. He asked Joshua "give me this mountain, whereof the Lord spoke in that day for thou heardest in that day how the Anakims were there, and that the cities were great and fenced, if so be the Lord will be with me, then I shall be able to drive them out, as the Lord said."

Normally, a man in his latter years will try to maintain the same strength he had between twenty-five and fifty years of his age because after fifty years a man usually loses his strength. The government retires a person at sixty years of his age. That man's heart is troubled at that time. He thinks who will respect me now, why I should be a burden for other's its better I leave this world peacefully.

But Caleb who was eighty-five years old and strong, joyfully says, "I will defeat the sons of the Anakim and gain freedom, so give me that place." Yes, he is an extra-ordinary man as the Holy Spirit was upon Him.

My beloved children in Christ, a man's intelligence, qualification, riches and his youth will not give him the victory as the spirit of God can give. He raiseth up the poor out of the dust, and lifteth up the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes and to make them inherit the throne of glory so be with him. Zechariah 4:6 says "Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the LORD unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the LORD of hosts."

There was a man selling balloons on the streets. Sometimes when business was less, he would leave the balloons to fly in the sky altogether. So far and wide the children who saw the balloons in the sky would come and buy balloons from him. One day a boy who was dark in colour came to that man and asked I have not seen even one black balloon in the sky. Is it that black balloons cannot fly? He asked sorrowfully. The balloon seller understood the grief in the boy's heart. The man hugged the boy and said, "No son, there is no difference in colours, whichever balloon you fill with helium can fly. Even a black balloon will fly." The little boy was very happy.

So eighty five years old Caleb or Gideon who was oppressed by the Midianites were the same. So whoever the Lord empowers with His Holy Spirit will receive strength. So beloved children, the Lord has chosen us to receive strength.

Prophet Jeremiah says "But the LORD is with me as a mighty terrible one: therefore my persecutors shall stumble, and they shall not prevail: they shall be greatly ashamed; for they shall not prosper: their everlasting confusion shall never be forgotten." Jeremiah 20:11

As Jeremiah, prophet Isaiah also says in Isaiah 40:10, "Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him."

As the Lord who was with the Israelites as a cloud, and a pillar of fire, as the Rock which gave water as the tree which made the bitter waters of Marah sweet. He will go with you as a Mighty God, the Angel of God will be with you.

In every situation see the presence of God with you in faith through your spiritual eyes. Plan to do great things for the Lord.

"For the mountains shall depart, and the hills be removed; but my kindness shall not depart from thee, neither shall the covenant of my peace be removed, saith the LORD that hath mercy on thee." Isaiah 54:10.

Dear children of God true to His word, the Lord's presence will always be with us but only when we walk according to His ways and abide under His shadow.

Till we meet again next month. Yours in Christ,

— Pastor Saroja M

Testimonies

Praise the Lord. I would like to testify of God's wonderful work in my life. The house I stay in is near a highway bridge. Snakes used to come into my home from holes in the bridge. Once 2 snakes entered into my sari where I folded and kept my clothes. Then I told this problem to Pastor Saroja in Sep 2011. She prayed in my house and asked me to sprinkle the prayed over oil all over my house everyday. I continued to sprinkle it everyday and I thank and praise God that from that date till today no snakes have entered my house. I sincerely thank Pastor Saroja for her prayers.

Praise the Lord. I thank the Lord for His wonderful work in my husband's life. Suddenly last month my husband became very serious and we admitted him to hospital. Doctor checked him and said he is suffering from TB, Malaria and Jaundice all three together. And he needed to be given white blood immediately otherwise there was very less chance of his survival. We were very tensed and worried because the white blood was not available in some hospitals. My uncle came to know about my husband's condition and next day after the Sunday service he informed Pastor Saroja about this and Pastor assured about her prayers. By God's grace we got the white blood and also my husband's condition started getting better. I thank Lord for this miracle and for saving my husband's life. I thank Pastor Saroja for her faithful prayers.

** Sis. Anjalin Vijay Pillai, Jogeshwari

Praise the Lord. I had kept a prayer request that I wanted to sell my flat. I had also told this matter to Pastor Saroja to keep the same in prayer. Due to the Lord's grace and mercy the flat was sold in a very good amount. I give all glory to Lord Jesus for doing this miraculous work in my life and redeemed me from the burden of loan. I also thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent sincere prayers.

** Bro. Hardik Patel, Virar

My grandson Ahaz got white spots on his face. So I asked Pastor Saroja to pray for my grandson. After 2 weeks the white spot had completely disappeared and did not come back.

I give all thanks to almighty God for healing my grandson and also thank Pastor Saroja for her fervent prayers.

** Sis. Mary Francis, Goregaon

Praise the Lord. I have been attending the Bangalore meetings from Aug 2011 onwards and I have been really blessed. Recently my grandson Bhuvan was sick for many days and then I took him for the prayer meeting. Pastor Saroja prayed for my grandson. From that day onwards he became well. Now he is very healthy and growing fast.

I thank Lord Jesus for His grace and blessing. I thank Pastor Saroja for her prayers and her love.

** Sis. Laxmi, Bangalore

I thank the Lord for His loving kindness to me. Last week I had severe chest pains. When Pastor Saroja came for the Bhilad meeting on Sunday, I requested Pastor for prayers. Pastor Saroja prayed over me and the pain vanished.

I thank and praise God for His divine healing. I also thank Pastor Saroja for her sincere prayers.

Does God exist ?

A man went to a barber's shop for a haircut and shave. He started chatting with the barber attending to him. They talked about various things and got around to discussing God. The barber said "You say that God exists but I don't believe that" "Why do you say that ? " ask the client . "Well it's so easy you just have to step out in the street to realise that God does not exist. Tell me if God was there would there be so many sick people? Would there be abandoned children? If God existed there would be no suffering nor pain I can't think of a God who would let all these horrible things happen. "The client taught for a while but chose not to respond because he did not want to get in a argument.

The barber finished his job and the client walked out of the shop. As he walked down the street he noticed a young man with long hair and beard it seemed he had not had a hair cut or a shave for a long time and he looked rather unkempt and disheveled.

The client walked back to the barber's shop and said rather nonchalantly to the barber "Know what? Barbers don't exist." "How can you say such a thing ? " asked the barber . " I am here and I am a barber. " He told the client in a challenging tone "No! " the client exclaimed . " They don't exist because if they did, there would not be people with long hair and beards like that man I just saw in the street." "Of course, barbers exist, what happens is that people do not come to them. "Exactly!" affirmed the client. "That's the point. God does exist what happens is people don't go to Him and do not look for Him that's why there's so much pain and suffering in the world."

Rose of Sharon Old Age Home
Mira Road - Mumbai

Welcome back, greetings once again to all our dear readers in the matchless name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus of Nazareth. We at the Rose of Sharon old age home in Mira Road wish one and all a very happy and prosperous new year 2012 in our Lord Jesus Christ. In this first edition of the year, we share with you our experiences on grandpa Anthony Joseph Roach.

Grandpa Anthony is 80 years old and hails from his native town of Ernakulam in Kerala. He was admitted to the Rose of Sharon old age home on 17th June 2010. Grandpa Anthony is a health freak and even at this age, (though he looks 10 years younger than his actual age) is very fit and strong and likes to keep himself active. He ensures that he walks every morning for at least 30 minutes after breakfast. While sitting too, he exercises his neck, his hands and legs and does it very diligently. Grandpa Anthony often reminiscences his days as a young Chargeman in Western railway, when he used to play all the games and represent the western railway football and hockey team in tournaments. Sports and an active life have given him the motivation to remain health conscious even today.

Grandpa Anthony is a complete foodie and loves good food. To name a few of his favorites, he is a great fan of bhajiyas and pattice and enjoys them once in a while. He is not fussy about food and eats all that is given to him, having said that, he is also disciplined on how much he eats and always ensures that he does not stuff himself too much. He respects food and will never waste it. He is also disciplined in his day to day activities and follows a similar pattern of doing things every day.

He is knowledgeable man and often shares his views by his experience, on a specific discussion, may it be sports, politics or purchase and sale of anything. He is very God-fearing too and you can always hear him saying 'Praise the Lord', 'Hallelujah' or 'Thank You Jesus' at any time of the day. He loves the evening prayer time too and sits down and takes active part by singing songs and clapping hands.

Grandpa Anthony is Diabetic and is under medications for the same. His blood sugar levels have been erratic at times in the past, especially in his initial days in the home, but now is constant by the grace of God.

Grandpa Anthony is also suffering from Glaucoma (A disease in which damage to the eye (optic) nerve can lead to loss of vision and even blindness) due to which he is partially blind. He can fairly see in the morning hours, but as the day progresses to afternoon, he cannot see anything at all, but again in the evening when there are lights in the room, he is able to see hazily. Many a times, God has allowed us in the home to undergo similar circumstances, and in his own way teaches us to be patient with the weakness of these dear people. Once, while taking bath I applied soap on my face and wanted to keep the soap back in the soap dish, but the dish fell down somewhere close by, having kept my eyes closed, with great difficulty I could locate the soap dish and keep the soap. In those moments, when I was searching the dish, I was constantly getting thoughts about grandpa Anthony and realized how difficult it is to live being sightless and yet be cheerful with all the people around you and still praise God. I must confess grandpa Anthony has been very understanding and cooperative with all of us here in the home. To conclude, our prayer for this dear grandpa is that may our dear Lord Jesus continue to bless him with good health and give him peace, joy and happiness in His sanctuary.nbsp;

Rose of Sharon Sunday-School
Kalina - Mumbai

Just as we do each month, this month too we take pleasure in sharing about one of our special children from the Rose of Sharon Sunday School.

This month we share about Kenaz Gaikwad. Kenaz is a quiet but talented child. In normal interaction with him you will find him shy and quiet. He is diligent in Sunday School work and obedient to us teachers.

Kenaz has a special talent - a God given gift! He is shy as well as quiet ... but give him a script to act and suddenly he will forget all his shyness and bloom into the talented actor that he is. None of us can forget his role as 'Zachaeus' - the little short man that climbed the sycamore tree to see Jesus , or the selfish 'rich man' in the story of Lazarus. He is truly a very talented actor with great dialogue delivery.

Kenaz is also very good at reading the Bible - he reads loudly and clearly. In fact he is the chosen one in Sunday School to read the bible in Hindi. If we are stuck with an Hindi word during Sunday School lessons - Kenaz always comes to our rescue with the perfect Hindi word.

It's amazing to see how the Lord has blessed every child. Every child is special - with a special ability, a special talent. May the Lord's name be glorified through our children.

Rose of Sharon Sunday-School
Bhilad - Gujarat

As all of our little children have grown a year older; we've watched these beautiful Sundays go by under the care and protection of our dear Lord Jesus. We thank Him for His unchanging love and wonderful grace that He bestows on each one of our little ones.

The year has begun with a lot of gusto: with cool winter breeze blowing through; our open-air Sunday-School is even more enjoyable. We reinstated the usual Bible stories session through pictorial presentation on the flannel board after praising, singing and sharing of testimonies are over.

This month, would like to share about our oldest student in the class, Kajal. She is a very a talented girl and loves to dance, sing and enact in skits. While we practiced for the Christmas skit, she was very excited when she was told to play the part of Jesus in the skit. She came to the very next class with all of her dialogues well by-heart. Though, by nature she is a very quiet child but when we ask any questions of the Bible stories studied, she's the first child to raise her hand to answer the questions. She also loves to ask a lot of questions to seek clarity after every lesson learnt. So, she eagerly listens and interacts with great interest.

We thank our Lord Jesus for His love and grace on all our Sunday School children.
